Die Suidoosterfees se Talentsoektog-kompetisie bied vanjaar weer die geleentheid aan amateurkunstenaars om hul talent aan die wêreld bekend te stel. Die projek fokus op die ontdekking en ontwikkeling van nuwe talent, en skep terselfdertyd geleenthede vir gemeenskappe om deel te word van die fees en die kunste.
Doelwitte
Die doel van die Talentsoektog is om:
- Nuwe talent in die Wes-Kaap te ontdek en aan die publiek bekend te stel
- Voortgesette ontwikkelingsgeleenthede en blootstelling vir wenners te bied
- Bewustheid van die kunstebedryf onder deelnemers en hul gemeenskappe te verhoog terwyl die fees bevorder word
- Gestruktureerde opleiding aan te bied vir die ontwikkeling en afronding van deelnemers se artistieke en professionele vaardighede
- Deelnemers met hulpbronne in kontak te plaas wat volhoubare loopbane in die kunste ondersteun
- Individue en gemeenskappe te bemagtig deur betekenisvolle betrokkenheid by die kunste
Pryse
Daar is opwindende pryse op die spel. Die wenner ontvang R10 000, die naaswenner R3 000 en daar is R1 500 vir die kandidaat wat derde eindig. Die algehele wenner sal ook genooi word om in ’n Suidoosterfees-produksie in 2027 op te tree, terwyl ’n belowende danser moontlik ’n voltydse beurs by Dance for All kan ontvang.
Wie mag deelneem?
Die Talentsoektog is oop vir deelnemers van 5 tot 35 jaar oud wat in die Wes-Kaap woon.
Kategorieë vir inskrywings
Die Talentsoektog fokus op die volgende kategorieë:
- Dans
- Sang
- Komedie
- Instrumentale musiek
Inskrywingsreëls
Vir die 2026 Suidoosterfees Talentsoektog word slegs aanlyn inskrywings aanvaar. Neem kennis van die volgende riglyne:
- Video moet maksimum 3 minute lank wees
- Video moet ’n kort bekendstelling insluit (naam, ouderdom, kategorie)
- Video moet goeie beeldkwaliteit en duidelike klank hê
- Aanvaarbare videoformate: MP4, AVI, MOV
- Deelnemers moet in die Wes-Kaap woon
- Deelnemers is self verantwoordelik vir vervoer na werkswinkels en optredes
- Let wel: Die bywoning van werkswinkels vir finaliste wat na verdere rondes deurdring is verpligtend.

Mentors en werkswinkels
Gekeurde finaliste kry die geleentheid om deel te neem aan mentorskapprogramme en professionele werkswinkels wat deur bedryfskenners aangebied word.
Deelnemers wat na die eindronde deurdring, gaan tydens vanjaar se Suidoosterfees in Kaapstad optree waar die wenners aangewys sal word. Hierdie geleentheid voor ’n feespubliek bied waardevolle blootstelling, help om selfvertroue te bou en plaas jong kunstenaars op die radar van talentsoekers en rolspelers in die bedryf.

The Suidoosterfees Talent Search competition once again offers amateur performers the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world. The project focuses on discovering and developing new talent, while also creating opportunities for communities to become part of the festival and the arts.
Objectives
The objectives of the Talent Search are to:
- Discover new talent in the Western Cape and introduce it to the public
- Provide ongoing development opportunities and exposure for winners
- Increase awareness of the arts industry among participants and their communities while promoting the festival
- Offer structured training for the development and refinement of participants’ artistic and professional skills
- Connect participants with resources that support sustainable careers in the arts
- Empower individuals and communities through meaningful engagement with the arts
Prizes
There are exciting prizes at stake. The winner receives R10 000, the runner-up R3 000 and there is R1 500 for the participant who finishes in third place. The overall winner will also be invited to perform in a Suidoosterfees production in 2027, while a promising dancer may receive a full-time bursary at Dance for All.
Who may enter?
The Talent Search is open to participants between the ages of 5 and 35 who live in the Western Cape.

- Dance

Entry rules
For the 2026 Suidoosterfees Talent Search, only online entries will be accepted. Please take note of the following guidelines:
- Video must be a maximum of 3 minutes long
- Video must include a short introduction (name, age, category)
- Video must have good image quality and clear audio
- Acceptable video formats: MP4, AVI, MOV
- Participants must live in the Western Cape
- Participants are responsible for their own transport to workshops and performances
- Please note: Attendance of workshops is compulsory for finalists who progress to further rounds.

Mentors and workshops
Selected finalists will have the opportunity to take part in mentorship programmes and professional workshops presented by industry experts.
Participants who progress to the final round will perform at this year’s Suidoosterfees in Cape Town, where the winners will be announced. This opportunity in front of a festival audience provides valuable exposure, helps build confidence and places young artists on the radar of talent scouts and industry role players.
