Die Suidoosterfees toer tans in die Oos-Kaap saam met die Jakes Gerwel Stigting om die vreugde en belangrikheid van lees onder jong leerders se aandag te bring. ’n Vertoning van Wela Kapela-produksies se Jakkals en Wolf sorg vir ekstra opvoedkundige uitbundigheid.
Die akteurs in die toerproduksie is Xola Mziwakhe (Jakkals), Sinovuyo Mbasane (Wolf), Aliza Majelman (Skaap), Luthando Blandile (Bok) en Reggy Nako Danster (Kraai en Uil).
Die toer maak deel uit van die Stigting se Bloukraan-boekeprojek, wat deur die Suidoosterfees in Kaapstad ondersteun word om ’n lewendige en genotvolle teaterstuk na leerders van 14 skole te bring, wat meestal geïsoleerd is en nie aan die kunste blootgestel word nie.
In reaksie op die geletterdheidskrisis in ons land, en in lyn met een van ons doelwitte om die groeiende gaping van ongelykheid te oorbrug, onderneem die Jakes Gerwel Stigting ’n projek om meer as 3 000 leerders in die Grondslagfase van skole in die Blue Crane- munisipale gebied (insluitend KwaNojoli, Pearston en Cookhouse) in die Oos-Kaap te bereik.
The Suidoosterfees is currently touring the Eastern Cape with the Jakes Gerwel Foundation to highlight the joy and importance of reading among young learners. A performance of Wela Kapela Productions’ Jakkals en Wolf adds extra educational excitement.
The actors in the touring production are Xola Mziwakhe (Jakkals), Sinovuyo Mbasane (Wolf), Aliza Majelman (Skaap), Luthando Blandile (Bok) and Reggy Nako Danster (Kraai and Uil).
The tour forms part of the Foundation’s Blue Crane Books Project, supported by the Suidoosterfees in Cape Town, to bring a lively and enjoyable theatre production to learners from 14 schools, most of which are isolated and have little exposure to the arts.
In response to the literacy crisis in our country, and in line with one of our goals to bridge the growing gap of inequality, the Jakes Gerwel Foundation is undertaking a project to reach more than 3 000 learners in the Foundation Phase at schools in the Blue Crane municipal area (including KwaNojoli, Pearston and Cookhouse) in the Eastern Cape.
