Voices in Unison
Die Suidoosterfees is ’n vennoot van Artscape se Voices in Unison-projek wat tydens die teaterkompleks se jaarlikse Women’s and Humanities Festival aangebied word. Nege kore met 346 lede het in 2024 opgetree by die amptelike opening van die fees: Cape Town Camerata, UWC Creative Arts Choir, UK-koor, Encore-kamerkoor, Nederduits Hervormde Kerkkoor, Joyful Harmonies, Cape Cultural Collective Rosa Koor, Kaapse Maleise Koor en die Suid-Afrikaanse Jeugkoor.
Voices in Unison bring buitengewone kore bymekaar op één verhoog, wat universiteits-, jeug-, gemeenskaps-, kerk-, Maleier- en kamerorkore insluit. Hulle optrede demonstreer uitnemendheid met ’n uiteenlopende program. Voices in Unison vier die prestasies en skoonheid van koormusiek en beklemtoon die krag daarvan om ons as nasie te verenig, en ’n gevoel van samehorigheid en gemeenskapsgees te bevorder.
The Suidoosterfees is a partner of Artscape’s Voices in Unison project, presented as part of the theatre complex’s annual Women’s and Humanities Festival. In 2024, nine choirs with a total of 346 members performed at the official opening of the festival: Cape Town Camerata, UWC Creative Arts Choir, UCT Choir, Encore Chamber Choir, Dutch Reformed Church Choir, Joyful Harmonies, Cape Cultural Collective Rosa Choir, Cape Malay Choir and the South African Youth Choir.
Voices in Unison brings together exceptional choirs on one stage, including university, youth, community, church, Malay and chamber choirs. Their performances showcase excellence through a diverse musical programme. Voices in Unison celebrates the achievements and beauty of choral music, highlighting its power to unite us as a nation and to foster a sense of belonging and community spirit.
